Festival of Paths returns to Aquileia: three days of slow travel, culture and inclusion

From April 17 to 19, the historic city of Aquileia (Friuli Venezia Giulia) hosts the second edition of the Festival of Paths, a project that brings together heritage, landscape and contemporary practices related to slow travel.

The festival turns archaeological sites and urban spaces into a distributed laboratory, offering a programme that combines policy discussions and hands-on experiences for families, walkers and professionals.

• Opening session on Friday with institutional greetings and talks on cultural welfare and wellbeing through movement.
• Archaeological and nature walks among mosaics, ancient routes and river areas.
• Workshops and labs on gear, route planning and accessibility design.
• Children's activities and sensory experiences such as forest bathing.
• Screenings and seminars linking neuroscience, psychology and landscape.

Roberto Corciulo, president of the Fondazione Aquileia, highlights the festival's role in reinterpreting the area's identity as a historic crossroads: participating routes include the Cammino Celeste, Romea Strata, Via Postumia and the Phoenician Route, alongside the Alpe Adria cycle path.
