The Genoa Aquarium joins the Kid Pass Days with family-focused sessions on Emys orbicularis on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May. The programme blends storytelling and education to explain the importance of native species and the threats posed by introduced exotics.
The turtle's story will be presented using kamishibai (a traditional Japanese paper theatre), a visual format designed to engage children and communicate conservation topics. The initiative is part of the EU-funded LIFE URCA PROEMYS project and supports the Wetlands for Life campaign promoted by EAZA.
The educational action aims to raise awareness among families about respecting biodiversity and promoting measures to protect, restore and create wetland habitats vital for native wildlife.
