Alessandro D'Aquila debuts solo in Venice
From 22 May to 5 September 2026 the Marignana Project gallery presents "Before Language / Prima del Linguaggio", the first solo exhibition by Chieti-born artist Alessandro D'Aquila (b. 1989). The vernissage is scheduled for Friday 22 May from 6:00 PM.
About the exhibition
The show features the Ottometric Poetic Panels, works that translate poetic texts into visual and tactile configurations. D'Aquila employs Braille not merely as a code for the blind but as a formal and conceptual device: raised dots become visible signs, and tactile experience merges with sight to activate a pre-verbal dimension of poetry.
Languages and poetic references
For the first time the artist presents these panels in five languages, engaging with authors from diverse traditions — including Dante, García Lorca, Prévert, Robert Frost and Goethe — to underline a shared poetic root beyond linguistic boundaries.
Why visit
D'Aquila's practice investigates the moment before language, when feelings and intuitions surface without codification. The works encourage a slow, multisensory viewing and prompt reflection on perception, writing and memory.
