Montegridolfo: the fortified village between Romagna and Marche

Autore: Redazione 02/08/2025 19:51

Nestled between the Val Conca and the Adriatic coast, Montegridolfo is a small medieval village, perfectly preserved.

Surrounded by its 14th-century walls and overlooking countryside rich in olive groves and vineyards, it is one of the must-see villages in Emilia-Romagna.

What to see in Montegridolfo

Among the attractions of this village is undoubtedly the 14th-century entrance gate, part of the walls that still enclose the entire historic center.

Once you pass through the walls, you can wander through the narrow alleys of the village and discover the treasures created over the centuries.

The main attractions include:

The Church of San Rocco, built in the 15th century and restored after the damage of World War II, preserves votive frescoes and a serene, intimate atmosphere.

Palazzo Viviani, today an elegant historic residence with a panoramic garden, offers a breathtaking view of the valley and the sea

The Museum of the Gothic Line, housed in the former Casa del Fascio, tells the dramatic story of the front during World War II through photos, objects, weapons, and documents.

Events, culture, and traditions

Among the most popular events, Montegridolfo organizes autumn and spring days dedicated to new olive oil, where visitors can taste it and enjoy tours among the olive groves.

Also very significant is the commemoration of the Battle of the Gothic Line, with historical reenactments and guided tours that intertwine the charm of the landscape with historical memory.

What to see around Montegridolfo

Montegridolfo enjoys a very strategic position for visiting both Emilia-Romagna and Marche.

In summer, it is especially popular, as the Adriatic beaches—from Cattolica to Gabicce—can be reached in less than half an hour.

All that’s left is to visit it yourself and let us know what you think!
