Nestled in the Romagna Apennines, the village of Brisighella is one of the most fascinating in Emilia-Romagna.
Perched on three rocky pinnacles, this village enchants visitors with its architecture and unique geometry.
Always crossed by trade routes, the village was for centuries a strategic defensive point, which is why today it represents a container of centuries-old history and culture.
In addition to being recognized among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Brisighella is also part of the Wine and Flavors Route of the Faenza Apennines.
What to see in Brisighella
One of the most iconic places in the village is the Via degli Asini (“Donkeys’ Alley”), an ancient raised street once used to transport gypsum with mules.
Just above the historic center stands the Rocca Manfrediana, built in the 14th century to control the surrounding territory.
On the second hill rises the Clock Tower, originally built in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 19th century.
The peculiarity of this clock is its six-hour dial, reflecting an ancient peasant conception of time.
Finally, the third and last hill hosts the Sanctuary of Monticino, a panoramic point from which the entire Lamone Valley can be admired.
In the village, you can also visit the Giuseppe Ugonia Civic Museum and the Parish Church of San Giovanni in Ottavo, also known as the Pieve del Tho, a timeless Romanesque building dating back to the 9th century.
Events, culture and traditions
Brisighella celebrates its food and wine heritage through events held in every season.
Among the most famous is the Festival of Oil and Olive, dedicated to Brisighella’s PDO olive oil.
In summer, Brisighella Romantica transforms the village into a path of lights and music under the stars.
Throughout the year, medieval reenactments, cloister concerts, and themed markets make every visit a discovery.
What to see around Brisighella
Just a few kilometers away are Faenza, famous for its artistic ceramics, and the Thermal Baths of Riolo, perfect for a wellness break with healing waters.
In addition, the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Park surrounds the village with caves and panoramic trails, ideal for hikes or simple walks immersed in nature.
The village of Brisighella is perfect for a weekend getaway or a quick visit, enjoyable in every season of the year.
