11th Placito Capuano in Capua: historical reenactment and guided tours

The Municipality of Capua organises the 11th Placito Capuano, an event aimed at promoting the city's monumental and linguistic heritage through historical reenactments, staged readings and guided routes in key local sites.

Program

  • 16 May 2026 – "The Youth Placito": historical procession, staged readings and a musical performance at the "G. Martucci" Auditorium of the "L. Garofano" Music High School.
  • 17 May 2026 – "Open Monuments and reenactment of the Placito trial": guided visits to Lombard churches, museums and historic routes organised by the Touring Club Italiano.

Visits and monuments

The programme includes special openings and narrated itineraries to discover Capua's monumental heritage. Key stops include:

  • San Salvatore a Corte (Lombard-era church)
  • San Michele church
  • Local museums showcasing finds and contexts from the period of the Placito (10th century)

Guests and cultural activities

Historians, local experts and cultural associations will take part with talks, performances and readings designed to explain the historical and linguistic significance of the document and the area.
