The Temple Gallery in Bergamo presents Faces of the East, a solo exhibition dedicated to the works of painter Sabrina Golin. The show highlights her technical and thematic evolution, featuring oil paintings combined with material inserts on transparent and metallic supports that produce striking light and depth effects.
Sabrina Golin, born in 1970 in Johannesburg to Italian parents and currently based in Vicenza, has worked in oil painting since the 1990s. Her practice stands out for the use of unconventional supports — plexiglass, glass and steel — enhanced by small beads of vitreous paste that intensify both natural and artificial light, adding chromatic depth and tactile relief to the surfaces.
Thematically, Golin alternates depictions of African wildlife — such as big cats and zebras — with refined portrayals of women, reinterpreting icons like geishas and popular figures such as Marilyn Monroe. Her pieces combine meticulous detail, vivid color, and emotional intensity, creating a dialogue between intimate memory and dreamlike suggestion.
This exhibition is suited to visitors interested in contemporary art that experiments with materials and mixed techniques. The gallery setting allows close inspection of glossy surfaces and material details, making the light effects and painterly quality especially appreciable.
