Until July 5, Gallerie d'Italia in Naples presents Vortices, an exhibition that brings together contemporary artworks and archaeological finds. The project stages a direct encounter between nine canvases by American artist Alexi Worth and a selection of Greek and Magna Graecian vases dated between the 6th and 3rd centuries BC.
The exhibition is organized around the theme of the symposium: ancient ceramics, historically linked to convivial rituals, are placed at the center of the rooms while the contemporary paintings line the walls, creating a visual dialogue between social functions and gestures across different eras.
Practical tip: check the Gallerie d'Italia official website for updated opening hours, ticketing and the availability of guided tours before planning your visit. The exhibition is particularly suited to those interested in the intersections between contemporary art and archaeological heritage.
Why visit: the show offers a fresh perspective on persistent iconographic themes—such as the symposium and the gestures of drinking—that link centuries of artistic expression and propose a contemporary reading of ancient imagery.
