Viterbo moves forward with Korean cultural center project

VITERBO – On 14 April the mayor Chiara Frontini and councilor Patrizia Notaristefano hosted a delegation from the King Sejong Institute, the South Korean organization promoting Korean language and culture. The meeting at Palazzo dei Priori outlined initial steps to establish a local institute branch and to launch a Korean language and culture course at the University of Tuscia (Unitus).

The initiative is based on a memorandum of understanding with Wonkwang Digital University and aims to combine academic, educational and promotional activities to foster cultural exchanges and opportunities for students and the local area.

  • Goal: set up a King Sejong Institute branch in Viterbo;
  • Education: start a Korean language and culture course at Unitus;
  • Partnership: memorandum with Wonkwang Digital University and support from the King Sejong Institute Foundation;
  • Impact: enhanced academic, cultural and tourism exchanges for the territory.

Academic representatives praised the constructive discussion and the university sites visited, expressing readiness to make the project concrete in the coming months. Local authorities confirmed they will provide administrative and cultural support for the initiative.
