Guided tours at the Abbey of San Martino delle Scale with craft beer tasting

A weekend of visits to the historic abbey: guided tours of the main spaces and museums, followed by an optional tasting of two abbey beers paired with local specialties.

• Location: Abbey of San Martino delle Scale, Piazza Platani 11, Monreale (PA), Italy.
• When: From 2026-05-23 to 2026-05-24 — Saturday at 16:00; Sunday at 11:00 and 16:00. Please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start.
• Price: morning guided tour €12; afternoon guided tour €11; children under 6 free.
• Booking: required by email at [email protected].
• Tasting: optional, contribution €5 for sampling the two abbey beers (blond and dark) paired with local cheeses and Sicilian cassata.

The visit route includes the monastic shop with abbey products, the church featuring the 16th-century wooden choir and organ, the wax nativity figures museum, the monumental staircase by Marvuglia and the Oreto fountain of Marabitti.

Morning visits allow access to the museum and the Martiniano ethnographic museum, while afternoon tours include the historic pharmacy and the bakery. The itinerary also covers the chapter house, the abbey hall with Pompeian-style decorations, and the refectory — known for the TV series "Le ricette del convento" — with opportunities to meet some of the resident monks.
