Autore: Redazione 05/04/2026 19:49

Vincenzo Scolamiero: exhibition overview

With Some Part of the Earth is on view at the Mattatoio di Roma - Città delle Arti from 1 April to 17 May. The presentation reconstructs fifteen years of the painter’s practice, offering a coherent survey of his recent production.

Highlights

  • More than 30 works including canvases, panels, papers and artist books.
  • Pieces that foreground the dialogue between painting, poetry and music.
  • An exhibition structure that emphasizes the role of negative space and compositional restraint.

Technique and themes

Scolamiero’s approach embraces mixed materials — pigments, oils, inks and acrylics — generating a range of textures, subtle glazes and luminous transitions. The creative process often follows bodily rhythm and gesture, alternating large fields of colour with hybrid signs that shift between abstraction and figuration.

Poetic and musical references

The show’s title, borrowed from a line by poet Louise Glück, underlines an immersive relation to the world. Small traces within the works evoke reflections on transience, while explicit references to composers and poets appear in several titles.

Catalogue and curators

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue published by De Luca Editori d’Arte, with critical essays by Francesca Bottari and Maria Vittoria Pinotti. The project is realized with institutional support and collaboration with local cultural bodies.
