Verona: free special openings of monuments and historic residences - Sunday 24 May 2026
For the National Day dedicated to historic residences, Sunday 24 May 2026 will see several monuments and notable homes across Verona and its province open to the public for free. This is a practical chance to visit sites that are not usually accessible.
Sites open (selection):
- State Archives of Verona – Located in the former Austrian military complex of Santa Teresa (19th century), it preserves ancient maps, parchments and notarial records. Guided tours are scheduled; the Archives also offer guided sessions on Saturday 23 May.
- Palazzo Liorsi – An elegant Renaissance-origin palace in the historic centre with inner courtyard, historic staircases and decorated rooms.
- Palazzo Sambonifacio Negri – Historic building near Juliet's House with medieval origins and Renaissance alterations.
- Palazzo Serenelli Benciolini – Residence blending Renaissance and 19th-century features, with decorated halls and ceilings.
- Palazzo and Giardino Giusti – 16th-century complex renowned for its Italian-style garden, terraces and panoramic viewpoints.
- Tower of Terzolan - Villa Ridolfi – Hilltop complex with a medieval tower and a manor house offering views over the Veronese countryside.
- Villa Carrara (Grezzana) – Historic Venetian villa with a planted park and notable façade.
Visits are free; for some sites advance booking is recommended or required. Check opening times and access rules before you go.
