Ca’ Giustinian Faccanon reopens: a Gothic palace for exhibitions

Following more than a year of restoration, the noble floor of Ca’ Giustinian Faccanon in Venice has reopened. The property, purchased by entrepreneur Andrea Parisotto, is under the cultural management of Art Events and will be used for exhibitions, cultural projects and public events, beginning with the 2026 Venice Biennale.

An invitation-only opening is planned for late March to mark the building’s return to the city’s cultural life. The new management aims to make the palace both a restored historic asset and an active venue for local and international programming.

Features and intended uses

Located in Calle delle Acque, number 5016, in the San Marco district near the Rialto Bridge, the palace is a characteristic example of Venetian Gothic architecture from the 15th century and retains notable elements such as a rare perforated loggia on the noble floor.

  • Size: about 1,100 m² across two main levels;
  • Noble floor: large Gothic windows (triforas), expansive wall panels and historic Murano glass chandeliers — suitable for conferences, receptions and classical exhibitions;
  • Mezzanine: more flexible spaces designed for contemporary exhibitions, multimedia installations and video rooms (spaces can be darkened);
  • Cultural role: intended to host exhibitions, events and initiatives focused on contemporary artistic production and international exchange.

History and restoration

Built in the second half of the 15th century by the Giustinian family, the building has served multiple functions over the centuries: in 1872 it housed postal offices and, from 1898, it hosted the editorial offices and printing press of the local newspaper Il Gazzettino until the 1980s. The recent restoration, funded by the Parisotto family, has conserved the historic interiors while adapting them for contemporary cultural use.

With its reopening, the palace is set to re-enter the circuit of venues used for artistic projects and international events in Venice’s historic centre.

Immediate programming: one of the first confirmed projects is an exhibition by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 61st Venice Biennale, curated by Do Tuong Linh and titled Art in the Global Flow.
