Una Boccata d’Arte 2026: contemporary art in Italy’s small towns

The initiative returns for its seventh edition, placing contemporary art projects in small Italian towns. The program features 20 artists working in 20 locations, with site-specific interventions and curatorial frameworks designed to create lasting relationships between artists and local communities.

When: openings will take place during the weekend of June 20–21, 2026; artworks will remain on view through October 4, 2026.

  • Scope: 20 regions, 20 sites, 20 artists and 20 curatorial projects.
  • Key themes: memory, permanence, and the dialogue between tradition and contemporary practice.
  • Method: residencies, workshops and participatory activities involving local residents.

For this edition, artists were given more time to engage with their host territories, developing workshops and collaborative activities that build tangible ties with local communities. One notable example involves a traditional household textile repurposed to reveal new material and symbolic dimensions.

Time is a recurring theme across the program: many works are conceived to endure or to be adopted by the hosting communities. Calendar moments — such as the summer solstice during the opening weekend — are used as opportunities to gather people, landscape and ephemeral architecture.

How to visit and take part

  • Check schedules and the detailed program for each town before travelling.
  • Join workshops and public events to better understand the context of the works.
  • Respect local communities: many initiatives arise from direct collaboration with residents.

This festival is an invitation to explore lesser-known territories through artistic interventions that combine experimentation, memory and shared practices. For up-to-date information on events and venues, consult the organisation's official channels.
