Tourism in Veneto: book tracing past and outlining the future

When: Thursday 30 April, 17:00
Where: Gallerie d’Italia – Vicenza. Free entry until seats are filled.

The volume "Storia del turismo nel Veneto contemporaneo" will be presented in Vicenza. Published by Franco Angeli in the Storia delle Venezie series of the Fondazione di Storia di Vicenza, the project was produced in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and under the patronage of the Direzione generale Biblioteche e Istituti culturali.

  • Opening remarks by institutional representatives: Elena Milan (deputy director, Gallerie d’Italia), Ilaria Fantin (cultural assessor), Egidio Ivetic (scientific committee chair) and Franco Iseppi (former president of the Touring Club Italiano).
  • Presentations by editors Filiberto Agostini, Mara Manente and Sabrina Meneghello; moderated by journalist Nicoletta Martelletto.
  • Contributions from 24 authors examining the shift from the 'Grand Tour' to mass tourism.
  • Content highlights: historical reconstruction, economic and management analyses, traveler profiles, length of stays, expenditure data, extensive photographic material and a summary of the Veneto Tourism Strategic Plan 2025-2027.

The book maps developments and current challenges in Veneto's tourism sector — from art cities to nature tourism, food and wine, sport and slow tourism — and reflects on adaptation and innovation strategies for the region's future.
