Castelli Aperti returns to Piedmont: a weekend of historic homes and landscapes

Friday 1 May and Sunday 3 May 2026 the Castelli Aperti initiative returns to Piedmont: for two days historic residences, villas and castles will open to visitors with guided tours, self-guided digital routes and visits to monumental parks. The project aims to make often-closed heritage sites accessible and to turn them into cultural and tourist assets for local areas.

The programme includes both well-known and lesser-known sites, among them:

  • Villa Il Meleto in Agliè, offering a route that connects literature and landscape linked to Guido Gozzano;
  • Castello di Masino in Caravino, with its monumental park and historic residence;
  • Castello delle Quattro Torri in Arignano, with guided visits by reservation;
  • Castello di Castelguelfo in Pessione di Chieri, with smaller, scheduled visits;
  • Casa Lajolo in Piossasco, which uses digital content and autonomous paths;
  • Castello di Miradolo in San Secondo and Castello di Pralormo in the Pinerolo area, offering a mix of art, nature and traditional interior tours.

Beyond cultural enjoyment, the event underlines the importance of a networked approach to promote the territory: linking residences and historic parks creates itineraries that can generate local economic value. Challenges remain in terms of sustainable management and funding, especially for properties run by foundations or private owners that need ongoing maintenance.

Visitors are advised to check opening times and reservation procedures on the official websites of the individual sites or the Castelli Aperti project. The initiative is an opportunity to discover lesser-known corners and experience Piedmont's historic heritage directly and engagingly.
