Record tourism in Bergamo: over 1.6 million arrivals in 2025

Bergamo’s tourism sector achieved unprecedented results: in 2025 the area exceeded 1,601,188 arrivals, up 6.6% from 2024 and 28.2% from 2019. Overnight stays also rose to 3,359,760 nights, +7.5% on 2024 and +38% versus the pre‑pandemic period.

The Tourist Data Hub run by VisitBergamo, active since 2018, monitors flows in real time and supports promotional and territorial development strategies.

  • City of Bergamo: 666,254 arrivals and over 1.3 million overnight stays in 2025; average stay increased from 2.1 to 2.4 nights.
  • Extra‑hotel sector: rapid expansion, +148% since 2019; nearly 5,000 properties in early 2026; holiday homes and apartments account for 94% of the increase.
  • Mountain areas: strong growth in the valleys, led by Val Brembana (+82.2% arrivals vs 2019), and projects like Smart Orobie to attract digital nomads.
  • International markets: Poland is the top foreign market with over 113,000 arrivals and 263,000 overnight stays in 2025; followed by Germany, France, the UK, Spain and the USA.
  • Early 2026 data: first quarter arrivals +12.5% and overnight stays +12.3% year‑on‑year.

Experts warn of vulnerabilities tied to reliance on Orio al Serio airport connections and recommend consolidating domestic and European demand to ensure stability. Local authorities plan to focus on internationalisation, territorial enhancement and sustainable growth to sustain the positive trend.
