Triennale Milano at Milan Design Week 2026: essential guide

From 20 to 26 April 2026, Triennale Milano joins Milan Design Week with a packed program of exhibitions, site-specific installations and permanent collection displays. Activities take place across indoor spaces, the Sala Sottsass and the garden, with a mix of free and ticketed projects.

Main installations

  • CASA ULTRAPIEGA (Anonima Castelli) — a garden installation illustrating the production logic of the ULTRAPIEGA chair, using display elements that echo the industrial process.
  • The Eames Houses (Eames Office) — archival materials, films and scale models of Charles and Ray Eames’s houses. Alongside these, the new Eames Pavilion System, developed with Kettal, offers life-size modular structures open to visitors.
  • Partner projects — site-specific contributions by companies and institutions such as Fredericia, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, HYLEtech and Kvadrat.

Retrospectives, collections and museum displays

Highlights include a retrospective on Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby. The Museum of Italian Design presents over four hundred items from its permanent collection; access to this section is ticketed, with student concessions available according to museum policies. Exhibitions on Andrea Branzi, Lella and Massimo Vignelli and a free show dedicated to Don Bronstein are also scheduled.

Outdoor spaces and visitor services

  • Giardino Giancarlo De Carlo — a resting area and meeting point between exhibits, hosting the Cucina Triennale bar-restaurant.
  • Piano parco — the exhibition "Nello spazio di un secolo. Rai Pubblicità, 100 anni di storia e oltre", tracing a century of visual communication in Italy through archival materials.

Workshops and related events

The program features workshops, round tables and labs, notably the HYLEtech Lab: Light in Matter, addressing atmosphere, sustainability and materials with international architects and designers. Spaces for artists and designers include generative installations and interventions on the historical archive.

Practical visitor information

  • Check opening times and access rules for each exhibition: some are free, others require tickets.
  • Use free displays to plan a flexible route through the complex.
  • Students should verify available concessions before visiting.
  • Arrive early on the busiest days of Design Week to avoid queues.
