History and description
A still‑intact medieval structure of the Castle of Rovigo, the Donà Tower—so named because it was acquired by the Donà family toward the end of the 16th century—rises about 52 meters high. Together with the Grimani Tower, it still preserves its original composition, with brickwork, arched windows, and its characteristic slope, bearing witness to the surviving remains of medieval Rovigo.
Curiosities
The tower is considered one of the tallest watchtowers in Italy.
Access
The site can only be visited with a guided tour, with schedules and prices varying depending on reservation. Special openings are also organized on certain occasions.
How to reach it
Located in the heart of Rovigo, in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, the tower stands within an urban park and can be reached on foot, by train from Rovigo Centrale station, or by car using the nearby parking areas.
A true symbol of medieval Rovigo, the Donà Tower is one of the most fascinating landmarks of Veneto, rich in history and open to the public.
