The Saxophone in Italy: book presentation in Turin

On Saturday, 16 May 2026 at 12:30, the Lingotto (Pad. Oval, Spazio Lazio - X102) in Turin will host the presentation of The Saxophone in Italy. Ingenuity, Production and Cultural Imaginary by Attilio Berni, published by the Museum of the Saxophone of Fiumicino. The event offers a multidisciplinary examination of the instrument, spanning history, manufacturing and cultural meaning.

The bilingual (Italian-English) volume of 288 pages reconstructs the saxophone's trajectory in Italy from the 19th to the 20th century. Beyond musical analysis, it investigates production processes, technical innovations and the contributions of local workshops and factories. Rich photographic and documentary material make it a reference for researchers, performers and enthusiasts.

The launch includes live musical segments: author Attilio Berni will perform pieces accompanied by guitarist Fabrizio Spadea, featuring historical saxophones from the Rampone & Cazzani workshop, combining narrative, listening and educational demonstration.
