Timeless Archaeology: Vincenzo Castella’s solo exhibition at BUILDING GALLERY

From 5 June to 3 October 2026, BUILDING GALLERY presents Timeless Archaeology, a comprehensive solo exhibition by Vincenzo Castella curated by Marco Scotini. The show occupies three gallery levels and brings together a cohesive group of around sixty medium and large-format photographs, many of them previously unseen.

The selection traces four decades of the artist’s practice, offering a structured reading of his investigation into industrial landscapes: images that document territorial change and visual memory through an unsentimental, measurement-oriented gaze.

What to expect

  • An extensive body of industrial and urban photographs reflecting the shift from Fordist economies to later production models.
  • Previously unseen works in varied formats, with notable vertical series displayed on the ground floor.
  • An archaeological approach to photographic documentation: images that convey a suspended, layered sense of time.

Practical information

  • Dates: 2026-06-05 — 2026-10-03
  • Venue: BUILDING GALLERY (three exhibition levels)
  • Curator: Marco Scotini
  • Works on display: approximately 60 photographs, medium and large formats

The exhibition highlights the continuity of Castella’s work from the 1980s to the present, from his early, deliberate use of color in industrial photography to more recent botanical and natural landscape studies. A vertical series shot in Baden features prominently, exploring the decomposition of a shooting second into multiple frames.

Visitor tips: allow sufficient time to visit all floors and check the gallery’s official website for opening hours and access information before attending.
