UNESCO 'Common Heritage': free teacher training and guided visits to UNESCO sites in Lombardy
The UNESCO Common Heritage project offers a free training path for primary and secondary school teachers in Lombardy. The initiative combines an introductory conference in Milan with a series of guided visits to the region's main UNESCO sites, providing practical tools and teaching materials to bring heritage into the classroom.
Core program
- Introductory conference: 18 May 2026, Palazzo Lombardia, Milan. Overview of educational objectives, lectures by art historians, sessions on science and technology applied to heritage, and participatory workshops including a Lego Serious Play activity.
- Free guided visits: on-site events designed to deliver operational materials and ideas for field-based educational activities.

- 7 June 2026 – Avenue of Chapels at the Sacro Monte of Varese
Resources for participants
Participants will gain access to pedagogical kits, podcasts, video interviews and courses developed with the UNESCO Chair at the Politecnico di Milano (Mantova territorial hub). These resources are designed to integrate visits into curricular activities with hands-on and digital tasks.
How to register
Attendance is free but requires registration through the Experience Regione Lombardia portal. Teaching materials and visit details are also available via the Abbonamento Musei service. Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
