Stefano Ricci: «Effimerenature & Maps»

From April 10 to 19 the Wundergrafik gallery in Forlì presents the solo show Effimerenature & Maps: Orientarsi nell'effimero, an exhibition focused on the tension between the human need to find direction and the inevitable experience of being lost. The project continues Ricci's long-term New World Project, begun in 2001, which explores the relationship between graphic gesture and mental landscape.

The works are grouped into two interrelated series:

  • Nature: fragile apparitions rather than fixed landscapes; forms that seem to vanish as soon as they are drawn.
  • Maps: visual devices that echo real street patterns but diverge through overlaps and detours, turning the map from a prescriptive tool into a field of possibilities.

Ricci adopts an essential, pared-down graphic language that prompts reflection on anthropological changes and the human relationship to surrounding spaces.

Short biography

Born in Forlì in 1970, Stefano Ricci trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna. His eclectic practice ranges from neo-expressionist painting to video-performance work; he was awarded the Carmen Silvestroni prize in 2000.
