From 18 April to 8 November 2026 Monumenti Aperti brings back guided openings of historical sites, palaces and churches across Italy. Celebrating its thirtieth year, the programme includes over 800 monuments in 18 regions, with free guided tours led by volunteers, students and local guides.
The initiative focuses on the social value of heritage: shared memory, inclusion and community participation. Key features include:
The 2026 programme covers the entire country: it starts in Sardinia with Cagliari and continues with events in towns such as Quiliano (Liguria), Pinerolo (Piedmont), Benevento (Campania), Palermo (Sicily), Perugia and many others hosting spring, summer and autumn openings. Highlights include necropolises, crypts, historic theatres, noble palaces and monumental parks.
Monumenti Aperti turns visits into lived experiences: exploring a monument becomes an act of active citizenship and social inclusion. Over thirty years the project has mobilised large numbers of volunteers and students and recorded millions of guided visits, helping to preserve and promote sites that are often hard to access.
To check the full programme, latest updates and accessibility information download the official Monumenti Aperti app and follow the national and local social channels. Always verify opening times, booking procedures and available services before you go.
