Galleria Viva opens on Saturday, May 16, the solo exhibition of Giancarlo Massimo Chiancone, who signs his work as Giano. The show, curated by Paolo Berti, is set in an evocative 18th-century palazzo at Via Santa Maria 24, Soriano nel Cimino and will be on view until May 31, 2026.
The exhibition offers an antological route highlighting two phases of the artist’s practice: the production developed during years in the United States and the art created after his return to Italy, between Salerno and Soriano. Works range from landscape-inspired pieces to informal compositions, characterized by vivid color and immediate painterly gestures.
Giancarlo M. Chiancone, known as Giano, spent over forty years working as a surgeon before devoting himself fully to painting. His work focuses on color, light and visual impressions, transforming fleeting visions into canvases with strong chromatic and compositional impact.
The show is an opportunity to explore the interplay between life experience and formal research in an artist who reinvented his career. It is suitable for local audiences and visiting art enthusiasts seeking contemporary painting with a vivid chromatic focus.
