From 31 March to 6 September 2026 the Fondazione Accorsi-Ometto in Turin stages an extensive exhibition devoted to Giovanni Antonio Bazzi (the Sodoma). The show assembles over fifty works—some never or rarely shown publicly—to reconstruct the artist's formative years and his connections with Lombard, Sienese and Roman contexts.
Organised in seven thematic sections, the display follows Sodoma’s artistic trajectory: his apprenticeship under Martino Spanzotti, early Sienese productions, and later Roman experiences supported by patrons such as Agostino Chigi. The exhibition also includes documentary material—most notably the original apprenticeship contract—and a film illustrating the fresco cycles central to understanding his output.
The exhibition offers a rare chance to follow Sodoma’s artistic formation and to observe stylistic exchanges between northern and central Italian schools. It provides a comparative view of works that document the artist's progressive maturation.
