Silk in Bergamo: exhibition, market and workshops at Palazzo Moroni

When: 16–17 May 2026 — Where: Palazzo Moroni, Bergamo (Città Alta)

Palazzo Moroni opens its courtyards and noble rooms for a weekend dedicated to silk heritage. The program connects historical production techniques with contemporary design through curated displays, scenographic installations and interactive activities suitable for adults and children.

  • Capucci exhibition: a selection of silk sculptural dresses showcased in the Ballroom to highlight the relationship between form, material and manufacturing processes.
  • Vintage and textile market: find archival pieces, silk garments and accessories, and items by independent makers in the central courtyard.
  • Workshops and demonstrations: hands-on sessions on weaving, natural dyeing, botanical printing and screen printing that introduce the silk production cycle.
  • Guided and tactile tours: special guided routes on the noble floor reveal historical silks, upholstery and costumes; tactile tours offer a sensory experience of fabric and texture.
  • Accessibility: sign language visits, simplified brochures and dedicated support to include visitors with intellectual disabilities.

The exhibition links finished garments to earlier production stages: alongside dresses, visitors can view color charts, weaving notebooks and textile samples to understand materials and techniques. Outside, colorful silk drapes and scenic installations welcome visitors and celebrate local silk craftsmanship.

Family-friendly workshops explain the natural silk cycle (mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, cocoon processing and spinning) and allow participants to practice simple manual techniques. A courtyard café and picnic options are available during the event.

Check official channels for opening hours, ticketing and reservations for guided tours or workshops before attending.

Why attend: the initiative offers a rare chance to explore regional silk history, view iconic garments up close and try traditional artisan techniques within a historic monumental setting.
