Senorbì opens to research: updates from Santu Teru excavations

On Saturday, May 16 at 17:30, the Domu Nosta Archaeological Museum in Senorbì hosts a conference focused on the recent excavations at the Santu Teru acropolis. The event will present scientific findings, field methodologies and plans for future enhancement of the site.

Speakers include professors and field researchers involved in the campaigns: Carla Del Vais and Marco Giuman together with Dario D’Orlando, Michela Collu, Alice Deiana and Jacopo Conti, who will discuss the main discoveries and analyses carried out at the Senorbì site.

Excavation campaign 2026: registrations open

Registrations are open for the fifth excavation campaign organized by the University of Cagliari, to be held on the Santu Teru hill from August 24 to September 25, 2026. The initiative is part of the “Santu Teru Project”, promoted by the Department of Letters, Languages and Cultural Heritage and the Graduate School in Archaeological Heritage, in cooperation with the Municipality of Senorbì and the Ministry of Culture.

  • Timing: five weekly turns between August and September 2026.
  • Priority: applicants available for at least two weeks will be given preference.
  • Scientific direction: Carla Del Vais and Marco Giuman.
  • Organizers: courses in Phoenician-Punic Archaeology and Classical Archaeology at the University of Cagliari.

The field school is a training opportunity for students, cultural operators and archaeology enthusiasts interested in excavation techniques and the study of Phoenician-Punic and classical contexts.
