From 27 April to 22 May 2026, a network of Italian museums hosts the residential phase of the fourth edition of the International School of Heritage. Promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the National School of Heritage, the program aims to strengthen the technical and project skills of heritage professionals from Africa.
The course involves 23 participants — directors, conservators, curators, librarians and archivists — from 12 African countries and focuses on the theme Managing Art Collections: from ancient to contemporary, connecting archaeological collections with contemporary artistic practices.
After initial online modules and a week of meetings in Rome held from 20 to 24 April 2026, the on-site phase began on 27 April and will conclude with a final event at the Ministry of Culture on 22 May. During the residential program participants work on collections, curatorial research and public programming to foster professional exchange and shared practices in heritage management.
The School is part of the Piano Mattei for Africa framework and seeks to build equal partnerships to promote cooperation, specialist training and sustainable approaches to cultural heritage management.
