To mark the city celebration for the Madonna della Misericordia, the Museo della Ceramica in Savona is holding a special opening. On Wednesday 18 March the museum will host dedicated activities and present recently acquired works from the local ceramic tradition.
The museum's holdings have been enriched with six works acquired in 2025 through Fondazione De Mari CR Savona: three full-round sculptures and three containers used historically for pharmaceutical or devotional purposes. These objects expand the typological and iconographic narrative tied to Marian devotion and give fresh material for studying local ceramic forms and decorations.
Alongside the presentation of the new pieces, the museum issues an updated edition of the catalogue "Ho visto la Madonna!", which incorporates the recent acquisitions and explores connections between ceramic production and popular devotion. The themed catalogue and related publications will be available at the museum bookshop.
This special opening is a chance to explore Savona's ceramic heritage, view newly acquired works and understand how local production intersects with religious practice. For visits outside the special opening hours or for ticket details and services, check the museum's official channels or contact the museum directly.
