Sassari marks Sa Die: programme focused on monuments

On 28 April 2026 Sassari commemorates the 230th anniversary of Giovanni Maria Angioy's entrance into the city with a day devoted to historical memory and the city's monumental sites. The event, part of Primavere Sarde – Sa Die de sa Sardigna, combines official ceremonies, guided tours and a historical re-enactment.

Day programme

• 10:00 – Commemorative ceremony in Largo Don Leonardo Carboni (Via Quarto) with wreath-laying at the monument to the revolutionaries; institutional and musical interventions are scheduled.
• 12:00 – First guided tour of the Sala Sciuti at the Palazzo della Provincia, organised by FAI.
• 16:00 – Second guided tour of the Sala Sciuti (FAI).
• 16:30 – Historical conference in the Sala Angioy: "1796-2026. Ttari tzitade rivolutzionaria" with contributions from historians and essayists.
• 19:00 – Itinerant performance "Memorie de sa sarda rivolutzione: Angioy entra in città" departs from Piazza d'Italia, crossing historic arcades and squares.
• Evening – Closing concert at Sa Domo de Totus (Via Frigaglia 14b).

Guided visits and monumental sites

The guided visits to Sala Sciuti at the Palazzo della Provincia are curated by FAI and provide insights into the collections and the building’s role as an institutional monument. The evening performance and the procession highlight the historical downtown, its arcades and squares as shared places of memory.

Education and civic participation

Educational projects involved local high school students to narrate the history of the Sardinian revolution and Angioy’s role, strengthening ties between the monument heritage and schools.
