Santa Caterina Museum in Treviso to upgrade systems ahead of autumn

Autore: Redazione 27/03/2026 07:21

Santa Caterina Museum (Treviso) prepares for autumn exhibition

The Santa Caterina museum will undergo technical upgrades to host a high-profile autumn exhibition. Local authorities have allocated the necessary funds to update systems and ensure the venue meets the standards required by institutions and insurers for loaned artworks.

  • Fire protection: overhaul of suppression systems to comply with safety regulations and enable rapid response;
  • Security and alarm systems: upgrades to doors, sensors and alarms with links to monitoring centres;
  • HVAC and environmental control: calibration of the climate system to guarantee stable conditions across rooms: 20 °C (±2 °C) and 50% relative humidity (±5%);
  • Technical verifications: testing and commissioning to demonstrate full compliance with the criteria for high-value insured works.

The planned works amount to approximately €135,000 and are scheduled for September–October, aiming for completion in time for the opening ceremony on 15 November 2025.

The return of the exhibition organizers to Treviso brings exacting requirements: beyond security systems, strict environmental controls are essential to preserve paintings and other sensitive works. Santa Caterina already benefited from earlier upgrades, but this phase focuses on meeting even more stringent standards needed for international loans.

Visitor note: some museum areas may be temporarily restricted during the preparatory works. Check official updates on the exhibition calendar and visitor access before planning your visit.
