ART.it – Art in Transition: final event at MAMbo

From 27 to 29 March 2026 the MAMbo - Museum of Modern Art of Bologna hosts the closing event of ART.it – Art in Transition, a project that engaged academies and universities to test new models of artistic training. The program includes an environmental installation, film screenings, research materials and public talks.

What to see

• Environmental installation in the MAMbo foyer: a sensory, dialogic space developed by students to represent the project's journey;
• Film Precarious life (Lucy + Jorge Orta, 2026, 37 min.) world premiere at DAMSLab and continuous screenings at MAMbo;
• Website and publications: the project site artintransition.art and three thematic publications documenting the research outcomes;
• Site-specific video and sound works produced from a shared archive and developed with a sound artist, alongside students' field diaries and digital tools.

Program and practical times

• Vernissage: Friday 27 March, 15:00 – opening of the installation in the foyer;
• Film premiere: Friday 27 March, 17:00 at DAMSLab Auditorium (Piazzetta P. P. Pasolini, 5/b) with the artists and the director in attendance;
• Film screenings: 28–29 March, continuous double-screen screenings from 10:00 to 19:00 at MAMbo;
• Exhibition opening hours: Friday 27 15:00–19:00; Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 10:00–19:00;
• Guided tours: Sunday 29 March at 15:00 led by the participating students;
• Public presentation: Saturday 28 March from 10:30 in the MAMbo Conference Hall with presentations and discussion on project outcomes and future directions.

Project background and partners

ART.it – Art in Transition was developed within AFAM institutions and involved Italian academies and universities in collaboration with European partners. The programme engaged students in international residencies, collaborative research and artistic production across four thematic areas: Art and Environment, Art and Inclusion, Art and Regeneration and Art and Contemporary Technologies.

It is a chance to experience works born from international residencies, view the premiere of a new artist film and consult publications that document methods and results—useful for artists, educators and cultural professionals.
