History and Description

Founded in the 4th century B.C., this archaeological site preserves evidence of Roman habitation spanning several historical periods, from Magna Graecia to the Roman Empire. The complex extends over a vast area, where visitors can still admire the remains of a Roman amphitheater, a theater, temples, and residential buildings, as well as mosaics, columns, and traces of ancient roads. The site reflects its former strategic and cultural importance as a major commercial and cultural hub in Calabria. Immersed in a striking landscape overlooking the sea, the ruins offer a valuable glimpse into the daily life and ancient history of the region.
