Palazzo Ducale hosts on Tuesday 31 March a public talk that kicks off a series focused on Ligurian music history, from classic singer-songwriters to pop and the contemporary rap scene. The opening session, titled “When Pop Goes Global”, features Ricchi e Poveri together with music journalists and a vocal ensemble.
The series aims to map key moments of Liguria's musical contribution: from the songwriter wave of the 1950s–60s — with artists such as Umberto Bindi, Gino Paoli and Fabrizio De André — through the rise of pop, up to the recent rap movement that counts several Genoese names among its figures.
Ricchi e Poveri, formed in Genoa in the late 1960s as a polyphonic quartet, will lead the opening session. The group is celebrated for hits that reached international audiences and for a long career featuring multiple Sanremo appearances. The discussion will combine historical context, personal recollections and reflections on how local music scenes interact with wider national and global trends.
Practical info: admission is free until seats are filled. For updates and logistical details check Palazzo Ducale's official communication channels.
