The Cabras museum system recorded a significant increase in visitors over the Easter long weekend, driven by the reunited statuary complex of the Mont’e Prama Giants on display in the Sala del Paesaggio. The result highlights the site’s growing cultural appeal.
The numbers point to both a sustained international draw of the Sinis archaeological park and strong local engagement. During the first two days of the weekend, access to the Giants display was reserved for residents, while other visitors attended sites managed by the Fondazione Mont’e Prama, such as the Tharros archaeological area, which helps explain how entries were distributed.
Compared with Easter and Easter Monday 2025, the increase exceeds 75% for those two days, marking 2026 as the best year in the last five for the Easter period and indicating recovery beyond pre-Covid attendance levels. The Foundation also announced a new exhibition opening in May in the Giants’ hall, focusing on Etruscan and Nuragic aristocracies with loans from major Italian museums.
When planning a visit to Museo civico Giovanni Marongiu or other Cabras sites during busy periods, check opening times and ticket availability on the Fondazione Mont’e Prama official channels and consider booking in advance where possible to avoid queues or restricted access.
