“The Gods Return. The Bronzes from San Casciano” will remain on view at the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia until Sunday 12 April 2026. The exhibition gathers more than 300 mainly bronze objects recovered during excavations carried out between 2022 and 2024 at the thermal sanctuary of San Casciano dei Bagni, tracing interactions between Etruscan and Roman worshippers and the cult of healing waters.
The extension allows visitors additional time to see many recent finds shown for the first time in Italy after exhibition stops in Rome, Reggio Calabria and Naples.
The display highlights the largest known deposit of Etruscan and Roman bronze statues discovered in Italy, illustrating centuries of devotion at a thermal sanctuary that attracted people of different languages and cultures. The exhibition was prepared in collaboration with university researchers and national and regional cultural authorities and is part of cultural events linked to GO!2025 – Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025.
