New acquisitions at the Pinacoteca Metropolitana “Corrado Giaquinto”

The Pinacoteca Metropolitana “Corrado Giaquinto” has added two contemporary works to its permanent collection following approval by the Metropolitan Council on the proposal of the delegate for protection and enhancement of the museum’s heritage, Micaela Paparella.

• Mayday Mayday Mayday (2025) — a video by Brazilian artist Berna Reale, running 4’11”. The piece exposes ecosystems overwhelmed by plastic waste.
• Nike or Winged Victory (1969) — a bronze sculpture (cm 83 × 34 × 48) by Anna Maria Di Terlizzi, whose research focuses on social and women’s issues.

The video entered the collection after the artist’s first solo show in Italy, held at the Pinacoteca between November and December 2025 during the 11th Bari International Gender Festival. The sculptural donation strengthens the relationship with the institution: Di Terlizzi exhibited the 2022 show Orme di anime inquiete, dedicated to women’s rights.
