Piazza Venezia renewed: the Metro construction site becomes the mural 'Futuro a Vista'

A large-scale intervention has repurposed the silos of the Metro construction site at Piazza Venezia into a painted surface. The work, by Pierpaolo Ferrari and part of the Murales project, reframes the construction area as an active element of the urban landscape.

What the work represents

The mural depicts two children looking toward the horizon — a visual language meant to evoke wonder, curiosity and hope. Its placement on the silos creates a visual link between contemporary urban development and the historic setting of Piazza Venezia.

Why it matters

  • Urban regeneration: the intervention minimizes the visual impact of the construction site and helps integrate infrastructure into the city's cultural fabric.
  • Dialogue between past and present: the mural symbolically connects Piazza Venezia’s long history with the underground innovation represented by the new station.
  • Public engagement: designed to be seen and discussed by the community, the artwork encourages local participation in the city’s transformation.
