Palazzo Pretorio: International Museum Day program
For International Museum Day 2026 (theme: "Museums connecting a divided world"), the Museo di Palazzo Pretorio in Prato is staging a weekend of activities open to all audiences: archaeological tours, guided visits, live music and workshops for children.
Main schedule (16–17 May 2026)
- Saturday 16 May, 9:30 – Guided tour of the Gonfienti archaeological area, exploring finds from the Bronze Age through the Etruscan settlement to Roman structures.
- Saturday 16 May, 16:00 and 17:30 – Two free guided tours of the Town Hall (Palazzo Comunale), including a family-friendly route showcasing paintings, coats of arms and historical curiosities.
- Sunday 17 May, 10:00 and 11:30 – Repeat visits to the Town Hall for the adult public.
- Sunday 17 May, 10:30 – Breakfast with Art: croissant and coffee in the museum setting accompanied by a concert in collaboration with the "G. Verdi" Music School and the Camerata Strumentale di Prato; piano students of Professor Emanuele Proietti will perform a varied program.
- Sunday 17 May, 16:00 – Children's workshop (ages 4–6): The Adventures of Dorando: the story of a little flower, an interactive museum trail with riddles and play-activities.
