Pesaro launches selection for Director of Culture and Tourism

The Municipality of Pesaro has approved the start of a selection procedure to appoint a fixed-term director within the new project unit "Governance Culture and Tourism". The move aims to strengthen governance of cultural and tourism policies and enhance the municipality's capacity to plan and attract resources.

The announcement was made by Mayor Andrea Biancani together with Councillor for Tourism and Culture Daniele Vimini, emphasizing the need for a professional with specific skills to coordinate complex projects and develop territorial marketing.

Main responsibilities expected of the new director include:

• developing and coordinating the "Pesaro Capitale Sempre" strategy and initiatives related to "Pesaro Smart";
• coordinating activities linked to the Pesaro-Urbino bid for European Capital of Culture 2033;
• promoting experiential tourism and strengthening integration across museums, theatre and music sectors;
• enhancing collaboration with local institutions and stakeholders to improve the reception and cultural offer.

The appointment will be fixed-term for three years (renewable but not beyond the mayor's mandate) and will be made under Article 110, paragraph 2, of the Italian Consolidated Law on local authorities through a comparative selection aimed at candidates with proven experience.

The mayor also acknowledged the professionalism of the current head of the office, Gianni Galdenzi, clarifying that the new selection is intended solely to further strengthen targeted action in the culture-tourism field.

This decision is part of the municipality's 2024–2029 programmatic lines and seeks to consolidate Pesaro's role as a cultural reference at regional and national level.
