Paternò: 'Facciamo La Valle' community festival restarts

The new edition of the community festival “Facciamo La Valle” launches today at 17:30 at the former slaughterhouse (ex Macello) in Paternò. The programme will run across the Simeto Valley until May 31, featuring a wide range of participatory cultural activities.

The festival focuses on creativity, sharing and territorial enhancement through four main strands:

• Workshops for practical and educational engagement;
• Itineraries to rediscover local places and memories;
• Talks and conferences to encourage discussion and community involvement;
• Shows and performances including music and artistic events.

This 2026 edition expands its geographic reach: in addition to Paternò, activities will take place in Santa Maria di Licodia, Regalbuto and Belpasso. The ex Macello remains the festival's hub, reaffirming its role as a space for urban and cultural regeneration.

The initiative is promoted by the Presidio Partecipativo as part of the “Che Macello!” project (Contemporary Creativity Laboratory of the Italian Ministry of Culture - MiC), in partnership with local and institutional organisations such as ISPC-CNR, the Municipality of Paternò, Nesti Coop. Sociale ETS, SiciliAntica, Comitato Mamme in Comune, ASD Libertas Etoile, Gruppo Batarnù APS and Archeoclub Italia - Paternò section, with the patronage of the participating municipalities.

The programme aims to connect communities, creativity and territory, creating occasions to showcase local talents and energies.
