On Sunday 19 April 2026, Capo Colonna hosted a morning event focused on environmental care and the appreciation of local archaeological and landscape heritage. The programme included an ecological walk on the headland followed by a guided tour of the Archaeological Museum and park areas.
The initiative was promoted by Italia Nostra together with local associations, aiming to combine practical conservation actions with cultural education. The goal was to raise awareness of the site's fragility and the need to preserve its traces for future generations.
The visit was led by two experts who provided insights into the history and archaeological context of the promontory:
Participants included members and volunteers from local sections of Italia Nostra and environmental groups such as Plastic Free, Gak, Laudatosi and Orizzonti Puliti.
The event provided a practical opportunity to care for the landscape and to deepen understanding of the historical traces in the Crotone area. Activities like this foster dialogue between local communities, associations and cultural operators and promote participatory conservation practices.
Teresa Liguori, President of Italia Nostra Crotone, expressed gratitude to all participants for their turnout and commitment to safeguarding the site.
Those interested in supporting similar initiatives can consider joining Italia Nostra or local sections that run projects for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
