Easter at the Museums 2026 in Rome: what to expect

From 1 to 6 April 2026, Rome's municipal administration presents "Easter at the Museums", a programme of special openings, guided visits, workshops and free educational activities across civic museums and archaeological areas. The initiative is promoted by the Department of Culture - Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, organised by Zètema Progetto Cultura.

• Dates: 1–6 April 2026.
• Opening times: municipal museums will also be open on Easter Monday.
• Free entry: on Easter Sunday, which coincides with the first Sunday of the month, entry to the civic museums is free.

Special guided tours: Palazzo Senatorio (5 April)

Highlights include guided tours of Palazzo Senatorio on the Capitoline Hill on Sunday 5 April. The tours are led by expert guides and explore the historic rooms and the long history of the palace, seat of Rome's municipality since 1143.

• Time slots: 10:00, 11:30, 15:00 and 16:30.
• Duration: about 75 minutes per tour.
• Capacity: maximum 30 participants per slot.
• Cost: free, reservation required.

Workshops and educational activities

The programme features themed visits, family workshops and educational routes for different age groups. One of the scheduled events is on 1 April at 15:00, meeting at Piazza di Porta Capena (corner of Viale Aventino, FAO side): a walk titled "The Valley of the Camenae", tracing the myths and places linked to nymphs and springs between the Caelian Hill and the Baths of Caracalla.
