Easter 2026 in Florence: museums to visit

Over the Easter holidays the Musei Civici Fiorentini and Palazzo Medici Riccardi offer a programme of guided tours, family activities and special openings. Below you find practical details on hours, events and exhibitions.

Main openings and events

  • Palazzo Vecchio: the Saturn Terrace reopens (access via the Sala degli Elementi). Scheduled are palace tours including the Camerino di Bianca Cappello, the living-history route Guidati da Giorgio Vasari (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings) and family programmes such as Vita di corte and Favola della tartaruga con la vela.
  • Easter-specific events: a workshop on the Florentine tradition of the Scoppio del carro on Easter day and the performance Lo scoppio del carro. Lo spettacolo di luce della Pasqua fiorentina (Friday 3–Monday 6, 15:00).
  • Multi-sensory visit Squisita scoperta. Il Granducato di Toscana e la via del cioccolato (Thursday 2 at 11:15; Friday 3–Monday 6 at 16:30), realized in collaboration with Rivoire.
  • Palazzo Medici Riccardi: guided tours of the historic residence and the exhibition Firenze Déco. Atmosfere degli anni Venti (Saturday and Sunday at 15:00).
  • Museo Novecento: afternoon tours for adults and family activities linked to the exhibition Avanti! Georg Baselitz, with additional focus on Ottone Rosai on certain afternoons.

Metropolitan Sunday

The regular Metropolitan Sunday—which gives free access to residents of the metropolitan area—has been moved from Easter Sunday to Sunday 12 April 2026.

  • Torre d'Arnolfo: 9:00–17:00
  • Museo Novecento: 11:00–20:00 (with Ottone Rosai and Georg Baselitz – Avanti!)
  • Complesso di Santa Maria Novella: 13:00–17:00 (free entry on Easter)
  • Palazzo Medici Riccardi: 9:00–19:00 (hosting Firenze Déco)
