Easter 2026: Over 6 Million Italians Dine Out, Restaurants Remain the Holiday Refuge

For Easter 2026, restaurants continue to play a central role in Italian conviviality: estimates from the FIPE-Confcommercio Research Center indicate roughly 6.2 million diners will sit at the tables of more than 113,000 establishments across the country.

Despite a slight drop in attendance (-4.4% year-on-year) linked to more conservative spending, total outlays are estimated at around €403 million, up 1.2% mainly due to inflation.

  • Menu format: the tasting menu makes a comeback, chosen by 52.6% of restaurateurs, with an average price of about €72 (drinks excluded).
  • A la carte: preferred by 47.4% of venues, it remains a strategic option for cost-conscious diners.
  • Signature dishes: homemade pasta and lamb or kid preparations continue to dominate Easter menus, reflecting regional culinary traditions.

Culturally, the trend underscores how holidays are an opportunity to rediscover local flavors and culinary practices, with many chefs using tasting menus to highlight local ingredients and traditional recipes updated with contemporary techniques.

Whether staying in town or taking a short trip, restaurant offerings blend classic comfort and innovation, with a consistent focus on ingredient quality and storytelling tied to place.
