National Association of Italian Sailors renews Portoferraio leadership

The “G. Barbera” Group of the National Association of Italian Sailors (ANMI) in Portoferraio has elected a new president: Giorgio Cuneo, whose appointment was ratified on April 2 by the National President. Cuneo succeeds Arturo Mancusi and may be the youngest group president in Italy.

For more than a century ANMI has gathered serving and retired Navy personnel as well as sea enthusiasts, playing a central role in preserving naval traditions and promoting maritime culture. The Portoferraio Group is among the most active in the area and serves as an important cultural presence for Elba Island.

Stated goals: to strengthen ties with the local community and institutions, enhance seafaring traditions, and continue institutional and cultural initiatives led by the group.

The new president thanked the outgoing council for their service and reiterated the group’s commitment to cultural activities aimed at the island community and the promotion of maritime heritage.
