Palazzo Tiglio: restoring a historic palace to revive the village
In the center of San Pancrazio (Bucine), Palazzo Tiglio is a case of adaptive reuse: a 17th-century palazzo founded on medieval structures that has been regenerated to host hospitality, cultural and agricultural activities, reactivating the village core.
The intervention unfolded in stages: reopening closed spaces to the community, creating a shared cantinetta, converting a medieval church into an exhibition venue and developing a small boutique hotel with six rooms and suites.
- History and architecture: a 17th-century building on medieval foundations, once owned by notable local families.
- Hospitality: since 2021 the property has evolved into a boutique hotel with dining facilities and an organic vegetable garden.
- Gastronomy: a seasonal menu based on local suppliers and produce from the property's garden.
- Cultural reopening: the Filarmonica of San Pancrazio (1916), unused for decades, is being restored with the initiative's support.
The official reopening of the Filarmonica is scheduled for summer 2026 and will feature an inaugural concert on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with pianist Per Tengstrand. The event marks the return of the hall to its original cultural role and strengthens the village's cultural offer.
For visitors interested in monuments and historic sites, Palazzo Tiglio shows how high-quality hospitality can drive local regeneration: combining accommodation with cultural programming and local food production encourages sustainable enjoyment of heritage.
