Afluentes sul Po: Soma turns Turin into an urban art route
From June 3 to 12, Turin hosts Afluentes sul Po, the solo project by Colombian artist Laura Ortiz (known as Soma). Curated within the Tropigrafia initiative, the route links the Murazzi, the historic center and the northern suburbs to explore water as a metaphor for memory, migration and identity through painting, print and mural work.
- When: 3–12 June 2026
- Where: Murazzi del Po (Spazio Contrada), historic center (Ridicola, via San Tommaso 13), northern suburb (Beeozanam, ex Fonderie Ozanam, via Foligno 14)
- Admission: free for exhibitions; workshop fee applies
- Workshop: 4 June, 17:00–20:00, fee €25
- Opening: 3 June, 18:00–23:00 (talk, screenings and DJ sets)
- Organizer link: https://www.instagram.com/tropigrafia/
What to expect
The project is conceived as a "hydrographic urban itinerary": Source (site-specific works and prints at the Murazzi), Course (a 24/7 shop-window exhibition in the city center) and Mouth (a permanent mural in the suburbs). Soma's pieces blend tropical Colombian rivers with the Po river through acrylics, ink and graphic techniques, and include a limited-edition poster titled Afluentes sul Po.
Key schedule
Source (3–5 June) - Spazio Contrada, Murazzi del Po: artworks, artist presentation and opening night featuring DJ sets by Onda Pacífica and Hemper. Entry to the opening is free.
Workshop (4 June, 17:00–20:00) - "Cuando el río suena...": practical session using collage, watercolor and mixed techniques to create river-inspired postcards. Participation fee €25.
Course (from 6 June) - Ridicola, via San Tommaso 13: window exhibition visible 24/7; works remain on display until the end of August.
Mouth (12 June) - Beeozanam, ex Fonderie Ozanam: the route concludes with a permanent mural installed as a gift to the city, merging Latin American muralism with Turin's industrial architecture.
Why visit
The initiative showcases urban art as a form of collective memory and cultural inclusion: Soma merges Turin's iconic imagery with Latin American landscapes, demonstrating how contemporary muralism can produce site-specific interventions and engage diverse audiences through exhibitions, workshops and music.
