Palazzo Martelli and the hidden treasures of Rieti's historic centre

On Saturday 15 March 2026 the historic centre of Rieti hosts a cultural trail featuring lesser-known monumental residences. The event includes guided tours, musical interludes and a final tasting of local specialties, providing a chance to explore the city's architecture, history and art.

Open sites:

• Palazzo Martelli (Via Garibaldi 89): a notable residence whose noble floor opens onto a rare secret garden in Mannerist style; tours led by the owners.
• Palazzo Vincenti Mareri (Via G. Garibaldi 268): a key example of Neoclassical architecture designed by Giuseppe Valadier; afternoon visits led by the owners.
• Civic Museum: houses important works from the city’s collections, including a painting of significant historical and artistic value.

Daily schedule

• 11:00–12:00 – Guided tours at Palazzo Martelli and its garden (every 30 minutes).
• 12:00 – Musical interlude.
• 15:30–17:30 – Afternoon guided tours at Palazzo Martelli (every 30 minutes); Palazzo Vincenti Mareri open from 15:30 to 17:30.
• 16:30 – Second musical interlude.
• 17:30 – Final cocktail with tastings of regional enogastronomic specialties.
